Graham, Anthony 1828-1908 British Dunstanburgh Castle. 5.75 x 5.75 ins., (14.5 x 14.5 cms.), Oil, Signed and Dated 1898. The castle enjoyed quite a checkered history. It was built by Thomas Lancaster, who wanted it as a secure place to escape from Edward II, if need be. He only visited it once after completion being captured during the battle of Boroughbridge. He was executed and the king took the castle.
