TWO REVERSE GLASS PORTRAITS OF MAHARAJAS India, 20th century Comprising a vertical portrait of a Maharaja, possibly from the Patiala state, acrylic colours and gold foil on glass, on his chest a Western-inspired military decoration, his turban heavily bejewelled with several sarpeeches (turban ornaments) and an eagle broach topped by a white heron feather, framed, 38cm x 28cm; and a similar portrait of a Sikh ruler or commander, acrylic colours and gold foil on glass, clad in white, wearing a high turban with several folds and a heavily encrusted necklace and bazubands (armbands), framed, 38.2cm x 28cm.
