TWO PAINTED GESSO ALHAMBRA ARCHITECTURAL PANELS Granada, Spain, early 20th century Comprising two moulded gesso panels, both of square shape, carved and painted to represent areas of the Alhambra Palace in Granada, the decoration typically Nasrid with lobed cartouches filled with pseudo-thuluth calligraphy repeating the dynasty's motto La Ghaliba Illa Allah, palmettes filled with arabesques and interlocking vegetal tendrils, one model with a black and white photograph of the Patio de los Leones, signed Enrique Linares - Es propiedad, no. 11, 34.8cm x 24.7cm; and the latter with a black and white photograph of the Patio de la Acequia, signed Enrique Linares - Es propiedad, no. 9, 34.8cm x 24.7cm, each mounted and framed.
