A BRONZE EWER India, late 19th - early 20th century Of pyriform shape, on an everted circular foot, rising to a tapering neck, with a reinforced circular mouth, the body intricately engraved with rosette medallions, geometric motifs, bands of fretwork alternated with bands of naskh calligraphy quoting poetical verses in sabk-e hendi, the centre characterised by two elegant rows of palmettes, lush floral spray and rosette tendrils to the base of the neck, the overall composition and shape inspired by 19th-century Iranian models, 36cm high.
