Chinese Black Lacquered Square Box with a design to hinged cover in gold lacquer; inside is a fitted silk presentation square box with an elaborately painted Gouache Cover of court ladies and 2 boys paying homage. The Lacquer with some age related warping, a few small chips to lacquer and molding separations with dirt and spots, the inside box with some wear to one corner, another corner reinforced. Approximate size of outside lacquer box 20 inches square (51 cm. square).
