Description

Chinese Qing Blue monochrome porcelain vase. The porcelain shaped into a traditional Meiping form, with a narrow base, wide body, slender neck easing to form a petite opening. The exterior masterfully covered in an even coat of a deep blue glaze which terminates at the base to reveal the pure white underglaze. The blue glaze creates a mottled effect around the rim which is likened unto the blushing of human skin. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the receded central interior base left white underglaze. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the underglaze grayish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The under-base bears a reign mark, a six underglaze blue seal script characters reign mark, Made In The Years of Qianlong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.Measurements: 13-1/4" H x 8-3/4" WPROVENANCE: From the private collections of Green family, of New York, by inheritance. Estate from ST LAWRENCE ANTIQUES, Riverside DR, Ogdensburg, New York. The Green's family collections offered at this Auctions can be found on Lot-278 Through Lot-302.
