熏香的传统源自于古代驱赶蚊虫，消弭秽气。据史籍记载，在战国时期，中国便有在室内焚烧植物，《周礼》中记载： “剪氏掌除蚕物，以攻攻之，以莽草熏之，凡庶虫之事”。至汉代，出现了专为焚香设计的博山炉。经历魏晋隋唐，香道与佛教互为相关，香具种类亦与日繁多，功能细化，出现了香盒、香囊、香铲等各种器具。此件香铲，以精铜为体，手感沉重，鱼子地锦纹刻阿拉伯文颂词，皮壳呈黑漆古色，可用于铲、压香料香灰 是同类香铲中之极品。
