郎世宁，意大利人，原名朱塞佩·伽斯底里奥内，生于意大利米兰，清康熙帝五十四年（1715）作为天主教耶稣会的修道士来中国传教，随即入宫进入如意馆，为清代宫廷十大画家之一，历经康、雍、乾三朝，在中国从事绘画 50多年。此像身穿清代官服，头戴官帽，开脸写实逼真，手持毛笔，呈写作状，官帽后明显漏出长长发辫，具有明显的清代官员特征。此尊雕塑工艺特殊，分体铸造，应为古代私藏密信而定制，从此可见，绝非寻常之族所用，底呈红木座，工艺精美，雕刻精细，上下搭配和谐，堪称绝品，整体雕塑写实，铜质精良，收藏家者必选之物。
