A sancai-glazed pottery model of a horse


Tang DynastyThe horse modelled standing four-square on a rectangular base, modelled with its head slightly turned to the left, bulging eyes and alert ears, the body glazed in rich ochre with brown-glazed strapwork suspending medallions, the unglazed saddle with traces of red pigment. 52cm (20 1/2in) high.
