Chinese Qing Dynasty carmine-red scrolling lotus pattern porcelain lantern vase. Finely potted in drum shaped form, of tall ovoid body, with rounded shoulder gently waisted toward low waisted neck and wide opening rim, raised on countersunk flat base. The exterior is adorned with beautiful lotus bloom and scrolling foliate in carmine-red against clean white under-glazed ground. Repeated Ruyi pattern and topical leaves motif banded along the rim and lower body. The lotus is one of the most significant flowers in the Chinese culture. It symbolizes the holy seat of Buddha. Because the flower rises from the mud and blooms in exquisite beauty it symbolizes perfection and purity of both the heart and mind. It also represents long life and honor. The lotus flower is depicted in Chinese art, poetry and architecture. The vase looks a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman. The glaze terminates above the foot, revealed smooth pale-creme unglazed ground foot rim, with the slightly receded central base reserved in peacock-green under glaze. The underside bear a reign mark, a six underglaze red seal script characters reign mark, Made in The Years of Qianlong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
