TWO DEHUA 'CHILONG' WINEPOTS


KangxiThe first of cylindrical form with a recessed foot, molded with a tied ribbon band around the middle, the spout and handle modeled in the form of sinuous chilong, the cover surmounted by a coiled chilong finial; the second of ovoid form, also with recessed foot and chilong-form spout, handle and finial. Similar ewers appear in the 1722 inventory of Augustus II the Strong, and others were re-covered from the 17th century "Hatcher Wreck."
