A Chinese dark red ground robe with gold-tone thread from the 19th century. It has five dragons chasing flaming pearls, cranes, shou symbols, and other auspicious symbols woven throughout the fabric. It has a rock and wave motif towards the bottom. The cuffs and collar are black ground with colorful stitched dragons and auspicious symbols. The robe has had buttons sewn on that are not likely to be original to the robe's creation. Dimensions are: 53 1/2 inches long X 67 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
