An inside-painted rock crystal snuff bottle


Ma Shaoxuan, 1903The pear-shaped bottle surmounted with a pair of faux lion mask-and-ring handles to the narrow sides, one main side painted with Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao seated on a crane bench with latticed crackled-ice railings and reading a book together, the reverse with an inscription referencing the sisters, dated kuimao san yue (March 1903), signed Ma Shaoxuan, with a seal cartouche painted in red.2 3/4in (7cm) high
