|The painted theme on this bottle has been in numerous Chinese artworks throughout history. It describes the very well-known Orchid Pavilion Gathering of 353 CE, which was a cultural and poetic event during the Six Dynasties era in China. It was known that during the Spring Purification Festival on the third day of the third month, the celebrated literati at the time gathered at the the Orchid Pavilion on Mount Kuaiji to compose poems and enjoy wine. During the gathering a poem composition contest combined with the wine-drinking spirit took place. Rice-wine cups were floated down a small winding creek as the men sat along its banks; whenever a cup stopped, the man closest to the cup was required to empty it and write a poem. 1990 劉守本 水晶內畫蘭亭修稧圖鼻煙壺
