晚明至清初，使用中原花纹繁丽，色泽光艳的绸缎制作“楚巴”（即藏袍）在西藏贵族中风行一时，然而这同时需要本地缝纫师利用丝绸原本纹样按照袍体形制进一步设计与剪裁。藏袍的缝制方法需将衣料剪成片，然后再拼接缝制。本品为平袖，交领右衽，直身式袍。身长过膝，袖长及指，裾不开。通身以清代初期绛色地织金云龙纹妆花缎龙袍料拼接、裁剪缝制，内饰绛灰色衬里。织金巨龙，形态粗犷威武，上颚高突，五趾尖利如鹰爪，紧靠成风车状，龙身环绕五色祥云，具有清代初期显著特征。此袍品相完整，工艺精湛，精心的设计与剪裁堪为妆花缎藏袍典范。
