The present example is extremely rare and showcases two of Patek Philippe's métiers d'art - enamelling and engraving. The arabesque-style scrollwork, forming rhythmic linear patterns further detailed with foliate tendrils and leaves, is reminiscent of the most intricate Medieval illumination artistry. The decorative execution on the dial and case band took more than 30-hours to complete. Champlevé enamelling techniques, used in this beautiful Ref. 5088P, required the dial to be hand-engraved first before the enameller fills the cells with black enamel to complete this wonderful visual artwork in miniature.To enhance the elegance of this dress watch, the Ref. 5088P is fitted with an ultra slim, self-winding calibre 240. The timeless elegance of this beautifully-preserved Patek Philippe Ref. 5088P is worthy of its distinguished Calatrava heritage. To the best of our knowledge, this Ref. 5088P has never appeared at auction before.
