With the present example, the RM11-03 Ti/Pro3, collectors will have a unique opportunity to acquire an RM11-03 prototype used in the evolutionary, development process of arguably one of Richard Mille's most iconic watches. The RM11-03's new case construction spent over a year in research and development and typifies all that Richard Mille stands for in terms of 3D architectural and mechanical design, use of innovative materials and enhanced performance. As evidenced in this prototype, the RM11-03 displays a more robust, sporty three-part tonneau case, with a distinctly ribbed case band and notched bezel. According to Richard Mille, each case required 68 different stamping operations and 202 separate machining operations to attain an engineering rigor akin to the design of Formula 1 racing cars, where the chassis and engine are developed holistically. In the spirit of the automotive industry, the RM11-03 prototype shows two grooved, rectangular pushers inspired by brake and acceleration pedals and the crown, wrapped in yellow racing accent rings in Alcryn®, is reminiscent of wheel rims and tire treads. The RM011-03 Felipe Massa also introduced a new automatic calibre, the RMAC3, utilized in this rare prototype. The new variable-geometry rotor is made of grade 5 titanium, like the base plates and bridges and is open-worked with utmost precision. Also, the RM011-03's new titanium rotor, inspired by the aerodynamics of Formula 1, features two micro-blasted gold wings and is further mounted on ceramic ball bearings to adjust to six possible positions depending on the user's activity level in sporting to non-sporting environments.
