Description

1) Second half 18th century England. The circular top with an arrangement of walnut oyster veneers and contrasting string inlaid borders on a pine foundation raised on a baluster turned, tripod cabriole leg base terminating in snake feet. Pedestal base in dark black varnish. 27" high x 20-1/2" in diameter. The candlestand with old, if not original, surface and age darkened nearly to umber. There is restoration and reattachment of legs at the base, edge of top probably trimmed. 2) Period Chippendale mirror having a curved top and bottom, original plate. 27" high x 17-1/4" wide. Repairs to crest, some cracking, otherwise good. 3) A Sheraton period split column grain painted picture mirror, having a connected colonial house amongst the trees. Original plate. 25" high x 32" wide. Some speck losses to picture, mirror has lost some back silver, otherwise generally good. 4) Birds-eye maple mirror with nice figuring. 19-3/4" high x 17" wide. Very good, replaced mirror plate. 5) 18th/19th century, a round turned hardwood example with incised decoration raised on three cylindrical splayed ring-turned oak legs. 12" high x 12-1/2" in diameter. Well-worn with good patina. 6) 18th/19th century, fashioned from a plank segment of nice form with gnarled knots and polished surface showing in-use wear from edged tool, raised on three splayed legs formed from tree branches. 14" high x 18-1/2" wide x 14-1/2" deep. Well-worn with good patina. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing", South Pomfret, VT. Condition: Dimensions: Largest : 13 -1/2" x 19".
