金刚持被尊为显密八宗之祖，是无形的法身，代表证悟圆满觉性究竟的本质，为藏传佛教各教派崇奉的重要本尊。此像束高发髻，头戴五叶宝冠。面容秀美，目光静谧慈悲。躯体壮硕，饰项圈及璎珞，双手置胸前交叉，左手持金刚铃，右手持金刚杵，象征智慧与方便的结合。下身着裹腿长裙，结跏趺坐于双层束腰莲台之上，莲瓣饱满而写实。整像的头冠、璎珞、钏镯原镶嵌有宝石，凸显了西藏地区的审美情趣，可谓明代卫藏地区的造像杰作。
