在印度佛教中，有许多经典讲述阿弥陀佛的思想与济世功德，佛教传入中国后，阿弥陀佛以宏大的悲愿、美妙的净土世界和方便易行的修行法门，深受我国人民崇奉。此尊头饰螺发，肉髻顶置牟尼宝，戴五叶冠饰。面庞方正，眉眼平顺，双目低垂，表情肃穆。上身躯体劲健挺拔，着袒右肩袈裟，袈裟衣缘饰有卷草纹饰，华美精致，双手结禅定法印。双腿结跏趺端坐，下承莲花宝座。整像胎体厚重，人物造型栩栩如生，做工精细入微，其艺术特征表现出鲜明的永宣风格艺术特色，但细节又显露出汉地传统造像的艺术审美，表现十分独到。
