本品以水晶为材，巧雕作卧羊之形，造型写实，小巧精致。整器清纯无色，内微有冰裂纹，更显其材质的晶莹剔透。瑞羊蹲卧而栖，前足略屈，呈回望之态，羊须长垂，羊角后卷，予人憨态可掬之感，流露温顺乖巧之姿。背部及一侧卧踞两小羊，有“三阳开泰”之意。羊为传统吉祥图案，羊，通古字“祥”，古代祥字既常写作“吉羊”。南朝宋《元嘉刀铭》：“宜侯王，大吉祥”。汉铜器上常见有“吉羊”、“大吉羊”文字装饰。“羊”、“祥”通假。西汉大儒董仲舒有云：“羊，祥也，故吉礼用之。”故而此器以水晶雕就羊形，意取“吉祥如意”。
