L. 53/64 in; 2.1 cm.
Upright oval scarab in gold setting, originally a signet ring, transformed into an earring. Antique stone and gold setting rotating on modern gold hook. The beetle summarily incised, the underside engraved with an animal enclosed in a band of lines.
Formerly priv. coll. M. P., Basel (1975–1979), acquired 2 November 1978 from Münzen und Medaillen AG. With Cahn Auktionen AG Basel, Auction 5, 16 September 2010, lot 348.
