此件鼎式炉平口折沿，颈部略收，两侧冲天耳对称所铸，鼓腹微垂，下承三兽足。腹部为整器之最，主题纹饰为饕餮纹，双睛圆睁，立体高凸，鼻胫微隆，如意状双角内卷，阔鼻咧口，神秘威严，底部以云雷纹相衬，纹饰上下各饰有连珠纹一周。足部兽首兽睛有神，双耳精巧，鼻头饱满似如意，口吐腿足，踞地沉稳。
铜炉造型稳重，工艺精湛，纹饰精美，为文房大雅之器。鼎在古代被赋予神圣的色彩，起源于禹铸九鼎的传说。象形三足两耳鼎，通常刻有精细的纹饰。鼎最初是一种炊具，后来因用于烹饪祭祀给神的牲畜，而上升为礼器，成为国家政权中君主、大臣的权力象征。
