A SMALL BRONZE HEAD OF BUDDHA, SUKHOTHAI KINGDOMThailand, 14th to 15th century. Finely cast, the serene face with heavy-lidded downcast eyes below elegantly arched brows, the full lips forming a gentle smile, flanked by long pendulous earlobes. The hair arranged in tight spikes surmounted by a domed ushnisha and flame. Mounted on a modern stone and metal stand. Condition: With wear, casting flaws, signs of weathering and erosion. Remains of gilt and some losses, such as the left ear. Superb, natural patina with malachite and cuprite encrustations. Provenance: Old French private collection. Weight: 23 cm Dimensions: 829 g
