PRATT, WASHINGTON, DCTHREE MOLDED QINGBAI BOWLSSong/Yuan dynasty, 13th/14th centuryThe first, thinly potted with wide, rounded sides supported on a short foot, the cavetto molded with a leiwen band above a design of alternating phoenix and peony blossoms, the center dominated by a lotus plant, all in shallow raised relief beneath a creamy glaze with a grayish-green tinge, the rim bound in copper; the second, imitating Dingyao, also with rounded sides over a short foot and a similar motif at the cavetto, but with a goose in flight at the well, covered overall in a pale greenish-white glaze save for the rim; the third, molded with a leiwen band above overlapping lotus petals at the cavetto and twin fish at the well, all beneath a glaze of straw hue extending to the exterior, copper bands encircling the mouth and foot. 7 1/8in (18.3cm); 7 1/2in (19cm); 5 1/2in (14cm) diam.
