A fine Pair of blue and white openwork Lanterns, c.1900, of hexagonal section, the upper part with contrasting pierced diaper panels, each enclosing a roundel painted with a different scene, the rest of the body of both the lantern and the integral waisted base painted with an overall scrollwork and florette ground, wood stands, H:38.5cm. excluding stand, both appear in good condition (but not removed from stands) Footnote: Purchased from A. Varela Santos, and illustrated in ‘Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art’, by A. Varela Santos, 2018/2019, catalogue no. 44, where they are dated c.1900
