A drum shaped Fahua Garden Seat, middle Ming dynasty, probably Zhengde period, the overall midnight blue field with central turquoise ground band of incised lotus scroll, picked out in aubergine and yellow enamels, and interrupted bt a pair of moulded yellow faced lion mask handles, all between two rows of raised turquoise studs picked out in turquoise above and below, and with further incised lotus motifs picked out in turquoise against the dark field, H:39.5cm., restored, with some cracks and areas of restoration and overpainting, including the top of the seat, upper body, around foot and on handles. Previously sold at Christie’s London,9 May 2017, lot 12, from the Private Collection of a European Lady. £8500/10500
