Ca. 664-332 BC. An Egyptian carnelian scarab with incised detailing to form a ridged carapace and naturalistic features. The flat underside has been left undecorated. Ancient Egyptian believed carnelian, because of its fiery colour, was often associated with the blood-lust and rage of Egyptian deities.
