Ca. 15th century AD. A bronze bottle or flask with a pear-shaped lower body and flat base, a neck with a facetted profile that flares to form a mouth with a pronounced rim. The lower portion of the bottle is adorned with a lovely pattern of linear etchings and radiating forms, while the neck and shoulder are decorated with intricate calligraphy, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to the design. Islamic bottles and flasks like this one have served a variety of functions throughout history. Many were used to store precious oils and perfumes, which were highly valued commodities in the Islamic world.
