铁拐李拄单拐于腋下，赤足，踮起右脚，左足立地，身躯前倾，作跋行状。头束发箍，瘦颊隆额，精神婴铄。身着长袍，腰系草叶裙，前胸祖露，左手身前托葫芦宝瓶。整体生动写实，结构严谨，造型刚柔有致，线条粗细得体，制作工艺精湛，具有明代造像的艺术特征。
铁拐李又称李铁拐，是传说中的八仙之一，在民间是喜闻乐见的神话人物，关于铁拐李的传说颇多，明万历年间彭大翼在《山堂肆考》云:“拐仙姓李，不知其名，夙有足疾，西王母点化其升仙，封东华教主，授以铁拐一根”。此说认为铁拐李乃西王母点化得道，自此位列仙班，授铁杖一根，封东华教主。元代以后，以八仙为题材的各种雕刻工艺作品十分众多
