George or Montague Pickett (English) mahogany mantel clock in the Georgian taste, 19th century, having a foliate dome and finials, brass mounted ringed columns, silvered steel dial with Roman numerals, and rising on bracket feet, marked to the dial and mechanism. Note: George Pickett is listed as being a goldsmith and jeweler at 265 Oxford Street as early as 1827 and in "The Royal Blue Book: Fashionable Directory For 1851"; Montague Joseph Picket is listed in the "Report of the Medical Officer of Health for Hanover Square, The Vestry of the Parish of Saint George" as being at the same address, 1876.Provenance: From the Collection of Bruce Cusmano, Metropolitan Artifacts, Atlanta, Georgia.Approximate dimensions: h. 24", w. 16", d. 11".
