Howard Chandler Christy (American 1872-1952), eleven piece collection related to the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonelsprising, a framed graphite illustration sketch depicting a gentleman in 19th century dress with arms outstretched, a set of nine Libbey frosted glass toasting mint julep "Howdy Colonel" tumblers depicting the original sketch, and a framed invitation dated May 2, 1952, addressed to Colonel Howard Chandler Christy for the annual banquet, the sketch signed to lower right. The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels was originally instituted in 1792 and in 1933 transitioned into a charitable civic and social organization. Mr. Chandler was a member and the illustration was used on the cover art of "Howdy Colonel: Pages from the Scrapbook of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels", 947, Marion Porter, published by Colonel Anna Friedman (Goldman) as well as the tumblers offered in this lot.
