此器銅質鎏金，工藝精美，鳳作駐足之姿，斂翅之態，曲頸昂首，尾羽欣長而華美，氣韻華貴，造型簡潔樸拙而神氣十足。鳳凰是古代傳說中的百鳥之王，羽毛五色，聲如簫樂。常用來象徵瑞應。《詩•大雅•卷阿》：「鳳皇鳴矣，於彼高岡。」唐韓愈《與崔群書》：「鳳皇、芝草，賢愚皆以為美瑞；青天、白日，奴隸亦知其清明。」此器歷兩千餘年仍保存完好，金水豐厚，金光璀璨，實為收藏佳品，頗為難得。
