本品为庙顶之形，器型硕大，成葫芦形，胎质厚重，釉面亮洁，通体施祭红釉，釉色鲜红，釉色深沉，釉面光润。祭红釉创烧于明宣德年间，色如初凝之鸡血，深沉安定，明中晚期一度失传，至清康熙才回复烧造，色泽更加艳丽，本品诚为祭红釉之上品。
