《髹饰录•坤集•雕镂第十•剔红》记载：“剔红，即雕红漆也。宋元之制，藏锋清楚，隐起圆滑，纤细精致。”其法常以木灰、金属为胎，在胎骨上层层髹红漆，少则八九十层，多达一二百层，至相当的厚度，待半干时描上画稿，然后再雕刻花纹。一般以锦纹为地，花纹隐起，华美富丽。 此挂屏木胎之上髹有数十层漆。底漆深褐浓烈如咖啡，表漆昂红惊艳如深枣。外框雕二龙戏珠纹，屏心雕饰“群仙祝寿”图，锦地之上雕刻壮丽山川景致、亭台楼阁、八仙各持宝物、仙子手捧寿桃。人物均形象生动，造型秀雅，韵味隽永；加之髹漆精美，置于厅堂陈设之用，彰显华贵富丽之感。
