此臂搁木质，色浆醇厚，色如茶葛。阴刻梅花数枝，垂于画中，笔法老道，线条流畅，近海派画风。刻铭文“梅放数花诗研香”，落“子祥写循甫刻”款。臂搁，亦称“秘阁”，为文人书写时枕臂之具，以防手臂沾墨。原配日本老盒。 张熊（1803～1886），又名张熊祥，字寿甫，号子祥，别号鸳湖外史。秀水（今浙江嘉兴）人，晚清海派画家重要代表人物。
