Lieutenant Colonel Harold Duke Collison-Morley studied at the Slade School of Art in London and also in Paris before joining the army. He lived in the South of England and then worked in Hong Kong (visiting Japan in the same period) .. He was killed in Flanders at the Battle of Loos in September 1915 at the age of 38 .
