The same hotel as we stayed at"; actor Randolph Scott (1898-1987), annotated "At the world series. Oct. 2, 1936"; actor George Raft (1901-80), annotated "At the world series. Oct. 2, 1936"; bandleader and musician Art Jarrett (1907-1987), annotated "On the Queen Mary. July 1936"; tennis champions Ellsworth Vines, Jr. (1911-1994), Lester Stoefen (1911-1970), George Lott (1906-1991), and Berkeley Bell (1907-1967), all on the same page and annotated "Clifton tennis courts 1936". Green leatherette boards with "Autographs" stamped in gilt on front board.The 1936 World Series was played between the New York Yankees and the New York Giants from September 30-October 6, and ended with the Yankees winning their fifth champion. While it was their first season without legendary home run hitter Babe Ruth who had left the team in 1934 and retired a year later, it was their first with rising star Joe DiMaggio.
