All measurements are approximate.Ryohei Koiso (July 25, 1903 - December 16, 1988) was a Japanese foreign painter. He was born in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. Member of the Japan Art Academy. Recipient of the Order of Culture. Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1927. While a student, he was selected for the first time at the Teiten Exhibition in 1925 and received a special prize in 1926. From 1928 to 1930, he traveled to Europe to study the techniques of Angle, Velazquez, and others, and exhibited at the Salon d'Automne. From 1930 to 1936, he was a member of the Kofukai, and in 1936, he formed the New School Association with hisrades. During World War II, he painted war pictures as a military painter and received the Asahi Cultural Award in 1940 and the 1st Imperial Art Academy Award in 1941. After the war, he was a professor at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music from 1953 to 1971. In 1958, he won the Popular Prize at the Contemporary Art Exhibition of Japan for "Family. From 1973 to 1974, he created the wall painting of the State Guest House (former Akasaka Imperial Villa). Received the Order of Cultural Merit in 1979, the Japan Art Academy in 1982, and the Order of Cultural Merit in 1983. He excelled in portraits of women and group portraits, and perfected a unique realism in his painting style. Major works include The Dancer (1938), Chorus.Please read our policy carefully:1.
