Description Late 17th or early 18th century Flemish Verdure Tapestry, Brussels or Oudenaarde, silk and wool, depicting Alexander the Great and his entourage receiving tribute from a group of kneeling peasants, with village and other figures in the background. Rendered in wool in shades of blue, green, beige and taupe. The ends and back are wrapped with a linen cloth cover. Top has later applied loops for fitting on a horizontal pole for display. Includes 4 heavy custom-made iron brackets (no pole). Bottom edge has later pocket for additional pole support.
