Description Late 17th or early 18th century Flemish Verdure Tapestry, Brussels or Oudenaarde, silk and wool, depicting Alexander the Great and his entourage receiving tribute from a group of kneeling peasants, with village and other figures in the background. Rendered in wool in shades of blue, green, beige and taupe. The ends and back are wrapped with a linen cloth cover. Top has later applied loops for fitting on a horizontal pole for display. Includes 4 heavy custom-made iron brackets (no pole). Bottom edge has later pocket for additional pole support. Tapestry overall: 117" x 96".品相报告: Condition Report Numerous scattered small losses and areas of repair and reweaving throughout, well concealed by the linen backing. 4' area of dampstaining to upper border extending into image, with some possibly related losses, notably to main figure's helmet plumage and rooftops.
