Description NEPAL - MALLA-PERIODE (ca 1201 - 1779) vrij uitzonderlijke "Pariksha" (46 x 72,5 cm) in verguld koper met de afbeeldingen van de vijf Dhyani Boeddha`s ( Vairochana, Akshobya, Ratna Sambhava, Amithabha en Amoghasiddhi,) in repoussé-techniek. Pariksha`s werden ter decoratie geplaatst boven tempeldeuren in voornamelijk de Kathmandu-vallei door de Newari. De Newari volgden een aparte niet-monastieke vorm van het mahayana-boeddhisme, en hadden hun eigen kastensysteem. Net als in middeleeuws India werkten kunstenaars aan zowel hindoeïstische als boeddhistische beeldhouwwerken, in grotendeels dezelfde stijl antique Nepalese Malla period "Pariksha" in gilded copper depicting the five Dhyani Buddhas (Vairochana, Akshobya, Ratna Sambhava, Amithabha and Amoghasiddhi,) in repoussé technique. Parikshas were placed above temple doors for decoration in mainly the Kathmandu valley by the Newari. The Newari followed a distinct non-monastic form of Mahayana Buddhism, and had their own caste system.
