Description An extensive Tournai porcelain dinner service,Second half of the 18th century, Belgium,Decorated in blue and white, partly with a crowned `W` monogram for `de Wijkerslooth de Weerdesteyn’s family`. The service comprising a tureen, gravy boats, fruit strainers, pots-a-creme, egg cups, a large quantity of plates and serving dishes.,,,The de Wijkerslooth de Weerdesteyn’s family goes back to the mid 15th century. As part of the Dutch Nobility, the family’s rich history is intertwined with aristocracy in Holland, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom. Following the female line, the family are legal descendants of William of Orange through the great-great-grandmother Charlotte Antoinette Amelie Zéphyrine, Baronness de Wijkerslooth de Weerdesteyn, Princess de La Tremoïlle and de Thouars. Charlotte was descendant of Charlotte Brabantina, Countess of Nassau (1580-1631), daughter of William of Orange wed Claude Duke de la Tremoile en de Thouars (1566-1604). Members of the de Wijkerslooth family have held high ranks in the Dutch magistrature — and thus the Dutch Republic. The de Wijkerslooth de Weerdesteyn branch were servant leaders with their home base in Wulven and Schalkwijk.
