Sheaffer and his legacy. A collection of three fountain pens, a Legacy Heritage in sterling silver and two unique pens simply called Centennial Limited Editions, one made of solid 18-karat gold and the other of sterling silver. The Sheaffer Legacy Heritage Centennial pen was limited to 1913 fountain pens worldwide and made of solid silver. The intricate engraving work was completed in Germany and hallmarked in the UK at the London assay office. The traditional Legacy Heritage wide band is engraved with the pens serial number and the centenary years 1913-2013, the UK hallmark is also stamped on the cap band. The barrel of the Sheaffer Legacy Heritage Centennial features images and signatures of W.A. Sheaffer and his son Criag Sheaffer. The cap of the Legacy Heritage Centennial features images from Sheaffer`s past, including the 1949 American First Choice slogan, a Sheaffer Snorkel tip unit and a bottle of Skrip ink. The cap also features the former US headquarters on Avenue H, Fort Madison. The plow factory building was purchased in 1917 and remodeled to house about 100 employees. Between 1917 and the late 1930s, all Sheaffer production took place in the facility. This building allowed the W.A. Sheaffer Company to manufacture its own gold nibs; prior to 1917, the company had to ship nibs from other parts of the country. In 1952, a new plant was built in Fort Madison and the Plough Works building was demolished and converted into a car park.An engraved image of W.A. Sheaffer`s lever filler patent is seen on the barrel above Walter`s face and below Craig`s face.
