此拍品由两件组成，玉质温和，蝉形制简单，器身扁平，双目斜凸于两侧，线条弯曲自然，柔韧有力。两侧都钻牛鼻孔，供镶嵌之用。整体受沁自然，打磨平滑。蝉在古代先民心目中，是一种神秘而圣洁的灵物。由于蝉饮露不食的自然天性，被视为高洁清廉的象征。又因蝉是由幼虫孕育蜕化而来，被认为具有复活再生、羽化升仙的含义。
