Education at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich, then at the Munich Art Academy. 1897 co-founder of the Vereinigte Werkstätten in Munich. 1908-26 artistic director of the KPM Berlin. Schmuz-Baudiss ranks as one of the most productive artists of Art Nouveau, he was responsable for numerous drafts for furniture design and ceramics.
