Early 20th cent. Bronze, olive-brown patinated. Overall height 32 cm. On the top of the base signed: VEDRES MÁRK. On an oval base with pearl rim nude of a young woman in a dynamic crotch position - Ukrainian-Hungarian sculptor, pupil of Simon Hollosy in Munich and Auguste Rodin in Paris, lived and worked in Budapest and Florence, where he was strongly influenced by the art of Adolf von Hildebrand, and settled permanently in Budapest in 1934. In Budapest, numerous works have been preserved in public spaces. The artist, who is largely forgotten today, was in great demand in his time and was represented at numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, including in San Francisco, where he won prizes and awards.
