At the center of the famille rose illustration stands the three star gods, Fu, Lu and Shou, surrounded by children. The figures clutch various celebratory objects, while two cranes leisurely stroll on the grassed foreground. On the horizon are sprawling rocky mountains overlooking the contorting waves of the ocean. The five red bats, captured mid-flight, and the five shou peaches of the peach tree atop the rocky terrain symbolize bountiful fortune and longevity. This famille rose illustration is colorful, well-composed, and skillfully painted with vivid characters. The complexity and vibrance of the lively scene suggests it to be a reproduction of an imperial sample.
