Provenance South German private ownership. An old handwritten inscription on the back of this copper panel attributes this work to Frans van Mieris. This attribution is not tenable, but testifies to the high quality of the painterly execution. This finely executed portrait of a 25-year-old nobleman is probably by the hand of an unknown German artist. The monogram has not yet been identified. Deutscher Meister Anfang 17. Verso auf der Kupfertafel alte handschriftliche Beschriftung mit Zuschreibung an Frans van Mieris. Diese Zuschreibung ist nicht haltbar, zeugt aber von der hohen Qualität der malerischen Durchführung. Das fein ausgeführte Porträt des jungen 25-jährigen Edelmannes dürfte von der Hand eines unbekannten deutschen Künstlers stammen. Das Monogramm konnte bislang nicht identifiziert werden.
