An Italian majolica platter with the coat-of-arms of Tiziano Vecellio The central heraldic motif monogrammed T.V.E. Unglazed, unmarked base. Some firing faults to the decor, craquelure, rim chips. D 33.3 cm. Attributed to Italy / Faenza, around 1600. Tiziano Vecellio, also called `l`Oratore` (1538 - 1612), was a cousin of the famous painter of the same name. He was elevated to the rank of cavalier in 1571, which may have been the occasion for a major ceramic order. As his epithet suggests, he was known for his eloquence. Platte mit dem Wappen des Tiziano Vecellio Majolika, opake weiße Glasur, Scharffeuerdekor in Gelb, Braun, Hellblau und Manganviolett. Tief gemuldeter Breitrandteller auf kurzem Standring. In der Spiegelmitte das Wappen mit den Initialen T.V.E. Glasierter Boden ohne Marke. Der Dekor teilweise verbacken, Craquelé, Randchips. D 33,3 cm. Italien/ Faenza, zugeschrieben, um 1600. Tiziano Vecellio, auch `l`Oratore` (1538 - 1612) genannt, war ein Cousin des berühmten Malers gleichen Namens. Er wurde 1571 in den Kavaliersstand erhoben, was der Anlass für eine größere keramische Bestellung gewesen sein könnte. Wie sein Beiname schon vermuten lässt, war er für seine Beredsamkeit bekannt.
