Description

A rare porcelain snuff box with gold piqué appliques Porcelain and enamelled copper box with gilt copper mountings. The lid adorned with a scene of a couple making music amid ruins in a rocaille surround of fine gold, mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell piqué. The body with similar mosaic appliques. Blue crossed swords mark to the underside. Restored over breakages. H 3.7, W 8.5, D 5.4 cm. Attributed to Meissen, c. 1760, decor attributed to Johann Martin Heinrici. Johann Martin Heinrich (1711 - 1786) is first listed in the records of the Meissen manufactory as a porcelain painter in 1742 and remained there as one of their most talented employees until his death in 1786. He was a portraitist, pigment mixer, engraver and producer of works in gold piqué. Provenance German private collection. Literature Illus. in Pazaurek, Deutsche Fayence- und Porzellan-Hausmaler, vol. 1, p. 162, illus. 131. Similar boxes attributed to Johann Martin Heinrici in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, acc. no. 1974.356.307 and 55.216.3. This lot contains materials which require a CITES licence for export outside of the EU contract countries. We would like to inform you that such licenses are usually not granted. Seltene Tabatière mit Applikationen Porzellan, Maleremail auf Kupferblechplatte, schwarzer Lackgrund mit Gold- und Schildpattstiftchen und gefärbten Perlmuttmosaiken, wenige grüne Cabochons, vergoldete Kupfermontierung, auch als Einlage in Deckel und Korpus. Auf dem Deckel ein oblonger Rahmen um ein musizierendes Paar vor Ruinenkulisse, gerahmt von Mosaikrocaillen in feinster Piqué-Arbeit aus Gold, Perlmutt und Schildpatt. Vergleichbare Mosaike um den Korpus. Blaumarke Schwerter auf der Bodenunterseite. Restauriert über Brüchen. H 3,7, B 8,5, T 5,4 cm. Meissen, zugeschrieben, um 1760, der Dekor Johann Martin Heinrici, zugeschrieben. Johann Martin Heinrici (1711 - 1786) wurde ab 1742 in der Personalliste der Meissener Manufaktur als Porzellanmaler geführt und zählte bis zu seinem Tod 1786 zu den talentiertesten Mitarbeitern der Manufaktur. Er war u.a. Porträtist, Farblaborant, Kupferstecher und geübt in Piqué-Arbeiten. Provenienz Deutsche Privatsammlung. Literatur Abgebildet bei Pazaurek, Deutsche Fayence- und Porzellan-Hausmaler, Bd. 1, S. 162, Abb. 131. Vergleichbare Dosen Johann Martin Heinrici zugeschrieben in der Sammlung The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, acc.no. 1974.356.307 and 55.216.3. Dieses Objekt wurde unter Verwendung von Materialien hergestellt, für die beim Export in Ländern außerhalb der EU eine Genehmigung nach CITES erforderlich ist.
